Competition: Pitch Your Game Idea [Prizes!] CLOSED -- results pending

append delete Kroc

Hello all. To bring some excitement to the community I’m holding a competition with prizes to be won! If you intend to participate, please read this post fully and carefully, thanks.

*Goal:* You must pitch your idea for an original computer game to the judges. We will be judging on originality, gameplay mechanics, potential and conciseness of your pitch (short, clear and vivid vs. rambling and incoherent :P)

*Time:* The competition will run from now until midday GMT June 1st

*Judges:* Kroc, theraje

*Prizes:* I am giving away three copies of Minecraft http://minecraft.net to the best three entries posted. If you already own Minecraft, you’ll be able to give your prize to a friend instead.

*Rules:*

• The game idea must be original and not based on any existing franchise or characters

• You can pitch more than one game idea (please do so separately, and not in the same thread), but can only win one prize

• You may use any tools at your disposal. You may include images and videos in your pitch, but this will not influence the judges’ decision: A concise, well described game concept can easily beat a well presented, bad idea

• Your game idea can be intended for any platform (e.g. PC, games consoles, retro &c.) even currently non-existent ones (though this is riskier to convey clearly) but must be a "computer game" as is commonly understood

*How to Participate:*

Please post your game idea as it’s own thread on these forums, prefixing the title with "Game Idea: "

Your thread can then act as a question and answer discussion for the judges and readers.

Note that NNF has a 50’000 character limit on the input form. Consider that your pitch-limit.

*Criteria:*

Judging will be based on these criteria:

• Originality: concepts or gameplay mechanics that are new and unseen, novel, exciting and imaginative

• Gameplay: A game that ultimately sounds engrossing and fun to play, rather than more of a chore

• Potential: The ability for the game idea to break new ground and excite people, what we feel could potentially become a big hit

• Conciseness of your pitch: Is this pitch short, clear, and to-the-point?

---

This thread will be for questions and answers about the competition, please remember to post your pitches in new threads and not here.

Competition is now closed, thanks everybody for participating. Me and theraje will be working on the judging over the next couple of days.

Just a reminder you've got a little over 1 day remaining. It ends 12pm GMT, June 1st.

Do you start to be satisfied with the number of entries now ? :)

I was annoyed that we got more than 3, now we've got to actually debate and decide! :P

That’s the idea right ;-) Will you make a ranking or just call out 3 winners?

Also, people should really get on the 24-hour bandwagon: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/12-hour_clock#Confusion_at_noon_and_midnight

[Wikipedia:] midnight could logically be called either “12 p.m.” (12 post meridiem, 12 hours after the previous noon) or “12 a.m.” (12 ante meridiem, 12 hours before the following noon)

When I see theraje we’ll discuss how we’ll do this. I need to get his feedback on his top choices so we can come to a consensus.

Yeah, either way, I think the deadline has passed (it is after 0600 here, GMT - 6 hrs) just minutes ago. Stay tuned -- results are forthcoming!

Never mind, still almost an hour left according to the forum time (Daylight Savings must be screwing things up?).

Well whatever the time really is, it’ll be over in half an hour. I’m busy at the moment, but will have some time in the evening to look over the entries. Me and theraje are just working out details now.

Results will come in a few days time, thanks everybody for participating!

Indeed, thank you for participating, guys -- there are lots of great ideas floating around, it will be a fun challenge to pick the best three of the bunch! :)

Maybe a tip for the people that tried finding a original game-idea:

You can submit your idea in this competition, and if you win, they will actually develop it for smartphones!

Here's where to submit: "http://www.larian.com/yourgame.php" Get those ideas flowing and work them out! :)
