This post was deleted by moderator

append delete Tomas

How can you edit the text what displays when the moderator deletes a post. I would like to change it to something like "This post was removed for breaking the forum rules".

Thanks!

While I don't know the answer to your question, are you sure you want to modify a generic statement into something more descriptive, and as a result, potentially inappropriate? For example, if someone's "reply" button fires twice and there's an accidental double-post, does the user get the scarlet letter of being a violator of the forum rules? What if the user posts a reply to the wrong thread? Or simply wants to remove a post that wasn't well thought-out or needs restructuring?

I think the actual message is a template, though: "This post was deleted by", and then a string describing the type of user: An admin/moderator, or the owner of the post itself. In other words, it is designed to tell people _who_ deleted the post, as opposed to _why_. The why isn't all that important (especially if you can't specify the why, and always label it as a reason that just ends up hurting people's feelings).

It just seems like a minus-sum game to delve into this sort of modification.

@Tomas: The strings for deleted posts are in the "theme.config.default.php" file in "/themes/greyscale"; however *don’t* modify that file. Create a copy and rename that to "theme.config.php" and then you can change the contents all you want, including redefining the deleted-post strings. (`THEME_DEL_USER` & `THEME_DEL_MOD`)

@theraje: Your supposition is indeed right—NNF doesn’t say _why_ a post was deleted, but at the end of the day, NNF does provide the option to redefine that message, so people are free to do so. That said, remember that when a moderator 'deletes' a post, the deleted message is shown, and when they delete it again, it’s removed completely. So Tomas can delete the post once for violations, and delete twice (permanently) for needless posts.
