Need a competition idea

append delete cthom06

After the fun we had in the game idea competition I'm ready for another. And it just so happens I've got an extra copy of Terraria just waiting to gift to someones Steam account. Unfortunately, I don't have an idea for a good competition. Suggestions?

nb4 competition to come up with competition... no :).

Yes, I was thinking about what we could do next. I don't have any prizes to give away yet, so if you can provide a prize, I'd be happy to put an official seal on a competition.

That said, if you ask people to think up an idea of a competition, they're going to favour ones that they feel they could easily win ;)

“they're going to favour ones that they feel they could easily win”

Well of course, that's sort of the idea (in the sense that people who like someones idea _also_ feel they can win ;). However. if you come up with an "official" competition I'd be happy to offer the prize (and even shell out for another copy if you'd like to have a runner up).

One idea I had is to create a piece of visual art (i.e. an image) with the following rules:

#1. The image must have the original size of 64x64, and be scaled to 128x128 using a "nearest neighbor" algorithm.

#2. The image must be monochrome (i.e. black pixels and white pixels only).

The images could be of anything, whether a game character, a pixel-photo, an optical illusion, or just a cool-looking design.

Any thoughts?

I was thinking that a good competition would be where everybody had the same starting point and same rules, but were left open to interpret a given input, so that we could everybody's unique take on same thing. Something like what you describe Clint is a good idea.
