Camen Design Forum

NNF goes 1.0 on June 1st! Get your requests in now!

I’ve set a release date for NoNonsenseForum (I don’t like version numbers, but we could consider this "1.0"). I will be publishing an article on the main website detailing the feature set and design choices and hopefully this will bring the software to a wider audience.

Anything else you can do to spread the word, also appreciated.

If there’s any feature / spit+polish you feel is necessary, please comment here, or for much better chances of getting done: file an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/Kroc/NoNonsenseForum/issues

Love the "pro tip" sentence :) it made me giggle like a girl.

I’ve published an article on the main site introducing NNF and detailing the features here: http://camendesign.com/nononsense_forum

We’ve hit RC. Everything I deemed vital for 1.0 is in, please report any bugs that need dealing with before this. If I get bored in the next couple of weeks I might plumb in thread locking.

NNF will be bumped on the main site later today; is there anything anybody can suggest is necessary for new users downloading the code to run it themselves?

What should I even call the version number? I don’t like version numbers, because that means I’m forced to keep updating and expected to rewrite it all every couple of years :P

Perhaps no version number, since the forum is called "NoNonsenseForum", and you don't want any nonsense in it, like for instance a version number.

That's it, it's released. Thanks everybody for all your help, especially jonhoo for contributing hard code. Please go and spread the word.

@Wannes, we need a version number for people to be able to better tell if they're up to date or not for technical support &c. My idea is that the version number will be "1" not "1.0" and will increase every time a new feature goes in. So if I add thread locking, that would be v2. That way we go up the numbers quickly and people stop caring about version numbers being so important (no "branding").

I’ve never contributed to a project before, but this has me excited enough to give it a try and see if I can help in some way. Kroc, you’re my inspiration (to the web developer part of me, anyway). :)

“My idea is that the version number will be “1” not “1.0” and will increase every time a new feature goes in.”

Thank you! I’ve been getting pretty annoyed with people who feel like they need a main number, a sub number, a minor number and maybe some date tagged at the end.

Also. Happy—belated—first birthday NoNonsense Forum.

Something's wrong on the main page of the forum. Going to http://forum.camendesign.com/ leads to the message

“feedback_feature_requests_and_suggestions.rss is malformed.”

Bug ?

Yeah, this has happened 3 times now, and I don't know why.
